Ramzi makes history in Men's 1500m - Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain out-sprinted the pack to win Bahrain's first Olympic medal in the Men's 1500m in 3:32.94. Kiprop won silver in 3:33.11, while Nicholas Willis of New Zealand won New Zealand's second Athletics medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, outpacing the chasing pack in the last 20m to take the bronze medal in 3:34.16. Anky van Grunsven of the Netherlands scored 78.68 points to get the Olympic dressage gold medal in Hong Kong on August 19. Silver medalist Germany's Isabell Werth scored 76.65 points. Heike Kemmer, who is also of Germany, took the bronze in 74.455.(Thank you and credits to Lui Siu Wai/Xinhua)

Christine Ohuruogu wins Great Britain's first ever Olympic gold medal in the women's 400 m, with Jamaica's Shericka Williams taking silver and Sanya Richards of the United States taking bronze.

Red-hot favourite Lolo Jones of the United States clips the second-last hurdle in the women's 100 m hurdles, finishing seventh; however, the US still succeeds in taking gold through Dawn Harper. Australia's Sally McLellan takes the silver medal and Canada's Priscilla Lopes-Schliep takes bronze.

Chris Hoy wins his third gold medal of the Beijing games in the men's sprint event, becoming the first British athlete in 100 years to win three gold medals in a single Olympiad
