Christien and his wife Lavin Seow are best known as the hosts of the Chinese-language Christien Lavin Celebrities' Secret Talk Show on ntv7 (which Christien also produces), as well as the couple behind the Christien Lavin range of skin-care products.

He has acted in Rosyam Nor's television series, CID 3278, and is now making preparations to appear in the film version of the series, as well as produce and star in his own film, tentatively titled Back to School - Life is Good. Christien is also working on his first music album, with plans to launch his first single across the Asian market soon.

Sinopsis "Jarum Halus"/Plot Story of Jarum Halus:

Filem Jarum Halus mengisahkan tentang betapa rumitnya suatu perhubungan sehingga berlakunya satu tragedi. Kisah ini bermula apabila Daniel dan Iskandar dua orang sahabat baik yang bekerja di sebuah syarikat yang sama iaitu di Ecotech, di bawah seorang pengurusnya bernama Datuk Kalel.

Daniel merupakan seorang pekerja yang rajin dan oleh sebab kerajinannya, Iskandar berasa kurang senang hati apabila Daniel mendapat lebih perhatian daripada pengurus mereka.

Akibat dendam yang membara, terjadilah satu persengketaan sehinggakan terjadinya suatu tragedi yang tidak dijangka.

Friendship. Love. Jealousy. Suspicion. Betrayal. Murder.

"Jarum Halus" is a story about the complexity and fragility of relationships, and how "little sins" can easily snowball into great tragedy.

Daniel Oh (CHRISTIEN NEW) has risen from his troubled childhood to chart his own destiny as one of the fast-rising young corporate stars at Ecotech, where he works together with his best friend Iskandar (RAZIF HASHIM) for Datuk Kalel (DATO RAHIM RAZALI).

However, Daniel's success, as well as what he perceives as Kalel's apparent favouritism towards Daniel in the workplace, builds resentment within Iskandar.



When Daniel elopes with another Malay colleague's daughter Mona (JULIANA IBRAHIM), Iskandar hatches a plot to discredit Daniel. He uses the headstrong and trusting Mona, gullible fellow employee Michael (JUSTIN CHAN), a brash secret admirer of Mona's named Rahim (MEGAT SHARIZAL) and even his own distanced wife Emilia (FARAH PUTRI) as pawns in what appears to start out as a spiteful game. But Iskandar's jealous scheming snowballs to disproportionate levels, finally climaxing in tragic consequences.

"Jarum Halus" is the directorial debut of talented young Malaysian filmmaker MARK TAN. It is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play "Othello", set in modern-day Kuala Lumpur and using a mix of Malaysian English and Malay (with English subtitles).

Also starring STEPHANIE CHAI and HILMY NOR, with cameo appearances by YASMIN YUSUFF, DOUGLAS LIM, COLIN KIRTON, MONTI and LAVIN SEOW.

Note: "Jarum halus", apart from its literal meaning of "fine needle", is also a Malay idiom meaning "a web of deceit, or a conspiracy".
