The Pantaloon Femina Miss India Beauty Pageant Was Held On April 5, 2008 on Saturday at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai.

The Pantaloon Femina Miss India awards beauty pageant was just over about two weeks ago last week, on April 5 2008 during the weekend in the evening. The beauty pageant was held at Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.The Femina Miss India competition began in 1964. This beauty pageant has been held annually except for 1989. Holding this beauty pageant gives much opportunity to the young pretty gils from all over India tuning their dreams into reality.

Miss Pantaloon Famina is organized by Femina women’s magazine and Pantaloons is a multi format retailer in India offering food, fashion, home solutions, consumer electronics, books and music, health, wellness and beauty, general merchandise, communication, leisure and entertainment products.

The winner for this beauty pageant won by Parvathy Omanakuttan from Kerala and she was crowned as Miss India 2008. She will be representing India in the Miss World Beauty Pageant. As for the other two runner-ups, they will be representing India this year for Both the runner-ups Miss Earth whereas the other runner-up will present Miss Universe for this year.

The winner of Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2008 is Parvathy Omanakuttan from Kerala.
Runner-up Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2008 is Harshita Saxena from Goa.
Runner-up Pantaloons Femina Miss India Universe 2008 is Simran Kaur Mundi from Mumbai.

During the finale of the beauty pageant, the finalists was given a question and see how well they could answer them and they were only given 90 seconds for the question given. The question was "The rate of divorce in India is on a rise. What is the cause?"

The three winners of the winners contestants answered so well. As I read the answers from the sources I was amazed by the answer given by them.

- "Marriages are what we make of it. Divorces are prominent because we don’t have the abilities to sustain them. We have to be more strong and determined as human beings."
- "Divorces are not a result of western influence. At the end of the day, it is we who decide whose worth us. Marriage is not when one completes the other but is when both share their completeness"
- The mindset is changing but divorces cannot be attributed to western influences. In fact we need to come up with a system to tackle this dilemma.

Popular artistes such as Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy performed for the night beaty pageant.

Another beauty pageant Gladrags Mrs India 2008 - Missis India 2008 was held last year 2007 at the grand finale in Bombay.


Mrs Madhvi Awasthi was crowned the new Gladrags Mrs India 2008.


The 1st runner-up went to Mrs Tanu Singh


and the 2nd runner-up went to Mrs Yukti Mehandiratta.
