BEIJING OLYMPIC 2008 ON DAY 9: Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay: Phelps wins record eighth gold - Britain wins Sailing Yngling gold

Hong Un-jong of DPR Korea scored 15.650 points to take the Women's Vault gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games here on Sunday. Beijing - August 17, 2008: Michael Phelps won his record eighth gold medal in the Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay final on Sunday but this time together with his his friends. China wins its first Olympic rowing gold medal in the women's quadruple sculls.

Swimming

The United States defeats Australia in the men's 4 x 100 m medley relay, setting a new world record of 3:29.34. Michael Phelps, swimming the third leg, won his eighth Olympic gold medal of the Beijing Games, surpassing Mark Spitz to become the athlete to win the most gold medals in a single Olympiad.

Britain wins Sailing Yngling gold


British Yngling trio Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson took the first gold medal at Olympic Sailing Regatta here on Sunday. The Netherlands took the silver and Greece got the bronze.(Thank you and credits to Xinhua Images)


China's Wang Jiao wins gold in Women's Freestyle 72kg Wrestling (Thank you and credits to: Li Gang/Xinhua)

China's Wang Jiao beat Bulgaria's Stanka Zlateva to win the Women's 72kg Freestyle Wrestling gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games here on Sunday.

Zlateva won the silver while Japan's Hamaguchi Kyoko and Agnieszka Wieszczek of Poland both took a bronze medal.

Beijing - August 17, 2008: China's Zou Kai won the gold medal after scoring 16.050 in the final of the Men's Floor Exercise.

Gervasio Deferr of Spain won the silver medal with 15.775, while the bronze medal went to Anton Golotsutskov of Russia who scored 15.725.
