Congratulations David Cook and David Archuleta
At the beginning of the the finale of "American Idol" at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Ryan Seacrest announced that all together 97.5 million votes were received. An extra 23 million votes compared to the previous season.
The Host, Ryan also revealed that 54% of those votes were for the winning David leaving 44% to the other David.
Ryan Seacrest announced that David Cook won the title of the seventh season American Idol and so this means David Archuleta was second during the Season Finale results show.
The new Season Seventh American Idol is David Cook and the runner-up is David Archuleta. Although David Archuleta is not crowned as the new American Idol but throughout his performances until "The Finale" on May 20, 2008, David did a great job and performed very well and he has never been in the bottom 3 before together with David Cook.
