PLACES TO VISIT IN MALAYSIA - TAMAN SAHABAT, KUCHING, SARAWAK

One of the places you must not miss when you go to Sarawak is the Taman Sahabat. No doubt this Taman Sahabat is one of the popular destinations in Kuching to visit . Do spend some time looking at the pictures and I will tell you briefly about this Friendship Park.

Taman Sahabat or also known as Friendship Park is located at Jalan Song, Kuching. It was built to strengthen the friendship between the people of Malaysia and China. Taman Sahabat was completed more than two years ago and it was officially opened by YAB Chief Minister of Sarawak on 18th May 2006 and from then it was open to the public.

This beautiful unique park is one of the main attractions in Kuching for tourists these days other than the locals who like to go there too especially during the weekends and school holidays with their family and friends. At times you may able to see people walking at the park, doing their routine exercise and at times practice their line dancing too.

The huge giant statue of Laksamana Cheng Ho (1371-1433) was sent all the way from China to Kuching as a symbol of strong bondage friendship between the two countries, Malaysia and China.

Other gifts that were given to Malaysia included some of the facilities for the people to use and pavilions which were carefully designed, fabricated and constructed by the Chinese Landscape technicians and artisans that can be found in the park. It is indeed an appreciation and much joy to the residents to have such a beautiful unique park.

Here are some snapshots of the park taken recently for you to view and if any of you ever visit Kuching do not forget to drop by Taman Sahabat. Don't forget to bring along your camera to snap some photographs for remembrance.

After visiting and having a good walk there perhaps you may need to have a meal with your family or friends. There is a big spacious hawker centre with variety food and drinks opposite Taman Sahabat. Other than that there is also a Singapore Chicken Rice shop for you to try the food there. Sometimes I will either go to the Hawker Centre and have my meal there when I do not cook. The price of the food are reasonable.
