Both made it to the Hollywood rounds, but Rogers was eliminated at week's end. Four weeks before the audition, Gokey's wife, Sophia, diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, passed away. Afsar is a former Miss California's Outstanding Teen and placed first runner-up at the 2006 Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant. She is half Bangladeshi and half European American.
