Miss Mississippi Leah Laviano profile:

Name: Leah Laviano
Age: 19
Hometown: Ellisville, MS
Previous experience: 1st runner-up of Miss USA and Miss Mississippi

Ever since Leah Laviano was crowned as Miss Mississippi USA in October 2007, she has represented Mississippi at many events, parades and she also visited schools, etc.

From sources of news that I read, it was said that Leah Laviano was teased by other children for her stuttering with her speech. Therefore people would just tell her that "At least you are pretty". Before winning any beauty pageants she did not have self esteem and winning really meant something to her.

Leah Laviano has competed before in a few beauty pageants including Miss Teen Mississippi USA and Miss Hospitality. She won JCJC’s “Most Beautiful” title in the year 2006. She has also worked at pageant Complete in Laurel, which she mentioned before that this has played a big role for her career in pageant.

She was glad that she was being encouraged to compete in the Miss Teen Mississippi USA pageant or she wouldn't had the courage to start entering any of these beauty pageants.

When asked, Leah also said working with people around her has been a big help to her in communication and good charisma. She also shared the skills she has with students from all ages. She also said that as she was teaching students to love themselves, she was also teaching herself. When she teaches them she was actually learning to be the best everyday, said Leah Laviano.

Leah Laviano joined a list of JCJC ladies who have been crowned Miss Mississippi USA. JCJC graduate Jill - Tullos, McDaniel (1995) and JCJC Foundation Director Caroline -Ramagos, Kelly (1996) are both past Miss Mississippi USA winners.

She said, representing Mississippi in the Miss USA beauty pageant is an opportunity of a lifetime. There are so much career opportunities waiting for one person when she can get just from being there.

After Leah Laviano was crowned as the first runner-up of Miss USA, she said that she is all set to focus on graduating from Jones County Junior College. She will go to the University of Mississippi to major in English education but she will never knew or predict what would happen next. Many people contacted her about helping her shape her future. She wants to complete her education first before entering entertainment industry.

Congratulations to Leah Laviano Miss Mississippi for winning Miss USA first runner-up last week on April 11, 2008.

Till another updates from sapphire blu.
